My Baby Sisters Wedding

So it would be unfair of me to go off blogging about other people's weddings when I haven't even shared all of the awesome pictures from my little sister's wedding. She got married in a garden ceremony at my brother's house in Shelley, ID. They live in a cute little farmhouse out in the country so it was the perfect backdrop. Of course it rained all morning the day of her wedding, but by the time we were all walking down the isle the sky was clear and blue. The reception followed right after with better than sex cake, spring tomato and watermelon kabobs, and homemade mints. My favorite part was the moon bounce. I know alot of people might think that its tacky to have a giant truck blown up at your reception, but the kids love it and it keeps my little nieces and nephews occupied for hours (meaning they are not running around the reception screaming and making messes). Everything turned out so beautifully.

Stealing Ideas

I love weddings. It is so amazing to see two people who love each other embark on a new journey together, and to know that you were there the day it all became, in a way, "official". But for me--I must admit ashamedly, if thats a word-- that I love going to weddings just to see how everything comes together. It is a given that the bride and groom will be happy and in love. It is a given that there will probably be some pre-wedding jitters and maybe a touch of drama, but every wedding style is different. It is interesting to see how the couple (or probably just the bride and her mother) have chosen the colors, the flowers, the dress, and which traditions they may or may not observe. It is these things that make each wedding unique and interesting, and the reason why I love them. I love to see a unique twist on things that I wish I had thought of so many years ago for my own wedding.

To introduce myself, I live in Idaho (Not a place known for its amazing over the top weddings). I was married almost three years ago on a rainy September day to the man of my dreams. And that was about it for my wedding enthusiasm. Until my baby sister announced two months ago that she was getting married. All of a sudden I had all of these wedding ideas start popping into my head once more and even after her wedding can't stop thinking about them. Her wedding also made me realize that living in Idaho makes it difficult to plan the type of weddings that you see in bridal magazines. I can guarantee you that no bridal shop here carries Vera Wang. So all of these frustrations kept churning and an idea was born. A blog specifically dedicated to researching out awesome wedding ideas and vendors that are actually taking place here in podunk Idaho, and putting them out there for other brides to see and make their own. So keep checking as I get started and feel free to shoot me an email with questions or posts you would like to see.
